Entries for Insider‘s prestigious Made in the South West Awards, which celebrate the region’s best and most innovative manufacturers, are now open.

From world class aerospace and defence parts and equipment to artisan food and drink products, the diversity and quality of what is made in the South West is a hallmark of the region’s economy.

Insider’s Made in the South West Awards 2017 is celebrating this strength and breadth of manufacturing excellence across the region – and is open for entries until Friday 8 September.

The nine awards cover a range of manufacturing sectors and will be presented at a formal evening dinner at the Mercure Grand Hotel in Bristol on 2 November.

This year’s nine categories are:

  • Digital Engineering/Technology Award
    Aerospace and Defence
    Export Award
    Food and Drink
    Green/Sustainable Manufacturer Award
    Manufacturing Apprenticeship Award
    Manufacturing Collaboration Award
    Manufacturer of the Year (sub £25m)
    Manufacturer of the Year (over £25m)

Jerry Frank, business editor of the South West Business Insider, said: “We’re flying the flag for South West manufacturers. The awards and gala evening showcase the commitment of the region’s manufacturers to excellence and world-class quality.”

The winners of this year’s awards will automatically go through to the grand final Made in the UK, which will bring together and celebrate the best of British manufacturing from across the regions.

Last year’s winners included Devon-based engineers SC Group, which took the aerospace and defence category, while precision component maker FAM took the advanced manufacturer award.
